Stomach Ulcers
Peptic stomach ulcers successfully treated with special honey
Manuka UMF® honey has been shown in clinical trials to completely control Helicobacter Pylori bacteria, identified in research studies at Universtity of Waikato in New Zealand as the underlying cause of peptic stomach ulcers.
For many years honey has been a traditional remedy for dyspepsia and peptic ulcers but it lacked any scientific basis for this practice.
More recently however, research undertaken at the Universtity of Waikato in New Zealand has studied the effects of selected honeys on the underlying cause of the ulcers which has been identified as being due to the presence of H. Pylori bacteria.
The University study researched the effectiveness of various forms of honey including the special Manuka honey with additional ‘Unique Manuka Factor' on a range of bacteria present in infected wounds.
In addition to describing the effectiveness of this honey on a broad spectrum of other bacteria, the study also determined that Manuka UMF® honey totally inhibited the growth of H. Pylori.
Many forms of honey have anti-bacterial qualities due to the presence of the enzyme glucose oxidase but Manuka UMF® honey has been found to possess additional antibacterial properties that allow this special honey to be diluted up to 100 fold and still be effective in controlling bacteria.
What is significant about this is that any loss of effectiveness due to dilution by fluids present in the stomach will not be as significant with Manuka UMF® honey as they would be with other honey.
Traditional forms of treatment for stomach ulcers often involve the use of several drugs taken at the same time, and can mean taking large numbers of pills every day.
The H. Pylori bacteria are notoriously difficult to control with prescription drugs and side effects of diarrhea, nausea and headache are quite common.
Clinical studies still need to be done to establish that the effectiveness of Manuka UMF® honey in controlling H. Pylori in the lab will follow through with success in patients, but the indications are that it will provide a viable alternative to taking an assortment of prescription drugs.
These natural Manuka products offer an alternative to prescription drugs, and in many cases, may provide superior results;
Manuka UMF® 20+ honey
Manuka UMF® 15+ honey
Active Manuka Honey
It should be noted that Active Manuka honey is collected from the same sources as the UMF® honey, but it is not certified as having the Unique Manuka Factor in the same quantity.
It will however still be anti-bacterial to a greater extent than honey from other floral sources, and since the UMF® honey is highly sought after it carries a price premium, the Active Manuka honey may be an option for many people.
Manuka UMF® Honey is not chemically altered in any way, it is highly anti-bacterial in its natural form, and is known to penetrate deeply into the stomach tissue, greatly assisting the control of bacterial infection.
If you haven't already experienced the benefits of using natural products, now is a good time to start. Manuka Honey products are an effective, natural and safe way to treat stomach ulcers.

Caution:
While allergic reaction to honey is rare, it has been attributed in some cases to certain types of pollen present in the honey. Consumers using Manuka honey for the treatment of stomach ulcers are advised to test by taking a small amount before taking larger quantities.
We recommend that people consult with their medical practitioner if the symptoms of the condition persist.
